Did it!!!!! Sisley Treviso : Giotto Padova 1:3 (22:25 28:26 21:25 26:28)

Padova stays in the A1! The team fighted for this until the end and with the victory against Trevsio, they even jumped to the 11th position in the final ranking! The team was celebrated like they just won the ChampionsLeague. Treviso, for sure, did not fight like Padova did, but they did not give away any presents! Christian finished the close 4th set with an ace after having played a great match (23 points) and was elected MVP. Congratulations to Christian, the team, the coach, the wohle club!!

Thanks to the fans, to the Tana Bianconera in particular, who always blieved in the team and supported them!

Zona salvezza! Giotto Padova : Tiscali Cagliari 3:1

After a point won in each of the matches against Modena and Cuneo, Padova got all tree Points against Cagliari yesterday and overtakes Latina, leaving behind the second last position in the ranking. Now the last match against Treviso and the match Latina : Vibo wil decide who was to play in the A2 next year.

Giotto Padova : Lube Macerata 1:3 (16:25 16:15 25:13 18:25)

After the disappointing CEV-Cup Final Four, Padova yesterday had to face another defeat. Again the team, but Christian in particular, could not show the volleyball, they are able to play.

No changes in the ranking!

After the painfull defeat in Perugia, Padvoa is lucky, that also the other teams at the end of the ranking lost theri matches, so the ranking-situation did not change:

13th again! Points this weekend: Padova 0, Santa Corce 1, Cagliari 1

Padova lost the important match against Vibo Valentia 0:3 and have to give the 12th place to Santa Corce who took a point yesterdan playing 2:3 against Piacenza. Also Cagliari came closer again, because they could win one point against Cuneo. A very dissapointing weekend, but Christian and his team-mates have to concentrate on the match against Perugia next Saturday now.

"Only" one point! Montichiari : Padova 3:2 (25:23 30:28 23:25 20:25 18:16)

They wanted to fight and they did! In every set Padova had the better start, but in the end it was always very close. Christian and Björn played a gread match with 26 points each and Christian was elected MVP. Of course they are happy for this point, because Padova leaves the last two positions for the first time after 14 matches, but also two or three points would have been possible, yesterday!

Still 13th place! Giotto Padova : Icom Latina 3:1 (25:18 25:22 21:25 25:23)

Padova took all three points from their important match against Latina thanks to Christian playing a great match (elected MVP, 24 points, 2 blocks, 2 aces) and Latina having problems to replace their missing opposite Biribanti. But they only left the 13th place in the ranking for one day, because Santa Croce won one point against Verona. Now Padova and Santa Croce both have 16 point, but Santa Croce stays in front of Padova because of their better set quotient.

Marmi Lanza Verona : Giotto Padova 3:1 (25:10 19:25 25:22 25:19)

"The service will be the key for the winner", Christian said before the match, and he was right, but the winner was Verona. They scored 11 aces (9 aces by Gato), and brought huge problems for Padova's reception much more often. Padova woke up after an incredible bad first set, won the second and reached an advantage untill the middle of the third set, but the Gato started serving aces again. The advantage was gone and with it seamed the hope to score some points in Verona. In the end Verona won 3:1 and kept all 3 points, that would have been so important for Padova. After the match Christian was very diappointed, today he is allready looking forward to the next match on saturday: "I'm sure, we can win against Latina! I want 3 points from this match!"

No points ! Giotto Padova : Copra Piacenza 1:3 (25:20 22:25 20:25 22:25)

Again, Padova lost a match that could have gone better! In the fourth set they had an advantage of a few points all the time, but then could not win back the service for a long time with the setter in position one. A problem that had already appeared a few times. In the end they lost their advantage and then also set and match. Christian played a very complete match, attacking, serving but also defending and setting very good.

Final Four! Numancia Soria : Giotto Padova 0:3 (21:25 23:25 19:25)

Padova reached the CEV-Cup Final Four! Also at home the Spanish team did not have any chance. Padova could try a lot and also let the substitute players play. Christian and Björn made a good match an both scored 16 points.

2 Points ! Codyeco Santa Croce : Giotto Padova 2:3 (25:23 25:23 13:25 22:25 11:15)

Padova won a close match in Santa Croce! They did not really start untill they were behind 0:2, but then the Middle-Blockers played the best 3 sets in the whole championship and the difference was highly visible on the scoreboard! Along with a great match by Björn Andrae and an amazing fight by the whole team, they finally won the Tie-Break! Christian for sure did not play his best match but still he could score some important points for the team.

Great step! Padova : Soria 3:0 (25:22 25:16 25:16)

Padova has one foot in the Final-Four of the CEV-Cup! Untill the middle of the first set they had to find into the match and also find the right measurement attacking and serving with the Mikasa-Ball, but then the Spanish did not have any chance. Also Christian played a very good match after some difficulties in attacking at the beginning. He scored 17 points, 2 aces and one block. But Padova was especially happy about the great match, their middle-blockers played!

Lost a close match! Giotto Padova : Itas Diatec Trentino 2:3

Padova lost a close match against Trento 2:3, won one important point but also lost two. The first set Padova played great and won it clearly with 25:16, but the concentration droped in the second and brought Trento the 1:1. Padova's players found their way back into the match in the third, only the coordination between the setter Mikko Esko and Christian seemend to be lost. After Christian had killed almost every ball in the frist two sets, he could not spike hart and precise from then on. "We spoke after almost every ball and tried to find our coordination, but we didn't really make it! I'm really disappointed, because this could have been a really great match", said Christian after the match. Apart from the attacking-problems Christian had a really good day in the service. He scored 4 aces and did not make one mistake. Still he is not content: "This could have been tree important points!" The two lost points, Padova lost in the end of the fourth set, that Trento won after a very balanced set.The following Tie-Break ended 12:15. Maybe it is good, that Padova will not have much time to think about this unlucky defeat, because tomorrow the will already play the CEV-Quarterfinals against the Spanish team from Soria.

Mission Impossible! Giotto Padova : Sisley Treviso 0:3

Yesterday's match was more a volleyball-lesson than a match. Treviso's team, which is almost identical to the Italian national team, played much better the Padova and also Christian, who played good, was not able to change the story of the match.

The fist part of the championship ends with Padova 13th in the ranking, but with a good finish in the last four matches (6 points).

One point! Poak Tessaloniki: Giotto Padova 1:3

Padova lost the match in Greece but goes to the quarter finals of the CEV-Cup, having scored one point more than Paok!

Important points! Tiscali Cagliari : Giotto Padova 1:3

Padova won the important match against Cagliari and is not longer last in the A1-ranking. Padova started good and won the first set without any problems, but after an 10:7-advantage in the second set Cagliari got better and won the second set. The third and fourth set were very close but in the end Padova took all three points.

On december 26th the will play in Padova against Treviso and the next day leave for the Diamond-tournament in Belgium.

Successfull start! Giotto Padova : Paok Thessaloniki 3:1 (25:10 22:25 26:24 25:23)

Padova won their first match in the CEV-Cup. After a clear first set, the concentration droped and the Greeks got better, could even win the second set. The match ended 3:1. The second leg will be played next week in Greece.

On Modena's level only for one set! Cimone Modena : Giotto Padova 3:0 (28:26 25:15 25:17)

Padova couldn't keep the level on which they played against Cuneo. After a good start for the guests, the match was a one-team-show. Christian was not able find his way to play, Matti Hiettanen got his chance and made it very good. In the end nothing could stop Modena and the match ended 3:0.

Grande Gigi! Giotto Padova : Brebanca Cuneo 3:1(29:31 25:22 25:22 25:18)

Everybody was hoping but it got even better: Padova won this important and difficult match against the second in the A1-ranking 3:1! With good services they made it difficult for Cuneos reception, so they couldn't play with their middle-attack-players all the time. Björn Andrae had an amazing comeback against his former team-mates, Mikko Esko played a perfect match. With also Peter Veres and Christian playing very good it was non longer impossible to beat a team like Cuneo.

For the new coach Gigi Schiavon it was a very special match, because two weeks ago he started with a team in great difficulties. It seemed a dream for nearly everybody outside the team when he said he wanted to start collecting points against Cuneo, but now they even got three.

Restart?! Giotto Padova : Brebanca Padova today 8:30 pm!

In today's "Monday-Night-Game" Christian and his team-mates will play against Cuneo. This team is full of stars like Giba, who had been elected best player of the Olympic games in Athens. Cuneo ist second in the A1-ranking. Everybody ist curious, if the new Coach can have changed something. "We cannot expect miracles, but the practices have already been much better!", says Christian with cautious optimism. Christian will have to see a dentist before the match today, because he has had terrible toothache since Saturday. Very unpleasant, but it should not disturb him in tonight's match.

Berruto resigned! Lube Banca Macerata : Giotto Padova 3:0 (25:16 25:14 26:24)

Everybody expected a clear defeat, but not that it would be that bad... In the first two sets Macerata and in particular Ivan Miljkovik (22 points in 3 sets an amazing 94% in attack) were unstoppable. Also for Christian it wasn't a good day. Coach Berruto tried all substitutes and those could reach a closer result in the third set, but not prevent the defeat. In the following press conference Berruto resigned. Now the club has 3 weeks to find a new coach. The first match after the WorldCup-Break will be the "Monday-Nigth-Game" agains Cuneo on december 5th in Padova.

Difficult match! Lube Banca Macerata : Giotto Padova Heute 16:15 Uhr

In the saturday match Padova has to play against Macherata and there it will be difficult to win some points. Thats why the teams aim is to play a good match.

Freier Fall! Giotto Padova : RPA Perugia 0:3 (18:25 20:25 23:25)

Negativserie und kein Ende in Sicht! Es wird immer deprimierender! Wieder konnte Padova keinen Satz in eigener Halle holen! Es ist ja garnicht so, dass die Jungs kein Volleyball spielen können! So haben wieder sowohl Christian als auch Björn Andrae mit 58% bzw 55% Angriffsquote eine hervorragende Leistung gebracht. Christian war mit 17 Zählern Punktbester der gesamten Begegnung! Auch die Annahme (82% positiv, 54% perfekt) war besser als die der Gäste (75% pos. 55% perf.) Trotzdem sitzen sie jetzt demprimiert zuhause und finden sich als Mannschaft mit mageren 4 Zählern nach 5 Niederlagen in Folge, allein am Tabellenende wieder! Woran lag es? Erstens an krassen Fehlentscheidungen der Schiedsrichter, vor allem im zweiten Satz, die so eindeutig parteiisch waren, dass die Gastgeber in der Satzpause geschlossen in die Kabine abwanderten. Zweitens: Padova hat unglaubliche Schwierigkeiten auf der Mitte: die Schnellangriffe kommen nicht durch (heute wieder nur 5 Punkte und unglaubliche 29% Erfolgsquote; zum Vergleich bei Perugia: 13 Punkte und 72%) und auch im Block ist die Arbeit einfach zu schwach (Blocks der Mittelblocker: Padova 3; Perugia 9!!). So kann man kein Spiel gewinnen! Hier muß die Arbeit der Trainer ansetzen und vielleicht auch die Taktik etwas geändert werden! Klar kann man den Mittelangriff nicht ganz fallen lassen, denn sonst wird es für Außenangreifer und Diagonalspieler unglaublich schwer, aber trotzdem sollte man sich mehr auf seine Stärken besinnen und den Angriffsschwerpunkt verlagern! Letzter Gegner vor der 3-wöchigen Saison-Pause (wegen World-Cup) ist allerdings Macerata. Keine rosigen Aussichten...

Wieder nichts ! Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia : Giotto Padova 3:1 (25:21 21:25 25:23 25:22)

Auch aus Kalabrien können Christian und seine Mannschaftskollegen keine Punkte mitbringen. Nach einer durchwachsenen Leistung in den letzten Spielen lief es bei Christian wieder deutlich besser. "Ich hab gleich gemerkt, dass mein Armzug wieder deutlich schneller und sicherer ist! In den letzten Spielen hatte ich das Gefühl ich hätte Steine im Unterarm! Endlich ist es besser!", meinte Christian nach dem Spiel. Woran es gestern lag: auf der Mitte läuft es noch nicht! Gelang es Padova mal nicht, die gegenerische Annahme unter Druck zu setzen, war die Ball über die Mitte ein sicherer Punkt. Der Vergleich der Statistiken der beiden Mannschaften:

Auf den Außenpostitionen (inclusive Diagonalspieler) war Padova in Punken und Effektivität überlegen, doch das Spiel von Padova ist zu einseitig und zu leicht auszurechnen.

Durch den Erfolg von Santa Croce über Piaceza steht Padova jetzt allein mit 4 Punkten am Tabellenende, und es scheint immer schwerer, sich da wieder herauszuarbeiten! Am nächsten Wochenende erwartet Padova zuhause das nächste Spitzenteam. Vize-Meister Perugia ist zu Gast in der PalaBernhardson!

Satz mit X! Giotto Padova : Aqua Paradiso Montichiari 0:3 (22:25 22:25 21:25)

Nicht mal ein Satz sprang gestern heraus für Padova. Den Unterschied haben in den ersten beiden Sätzen die Annahme und Block/Abwehr gemacht. Leider! Es läuft nicht richtig rund, das Team findet nicht ins Spiel und wenn sie am Satzende mal dran sind, schaffen sie es nicht, den Sack zu zu machen. Sicher waren die Jungs auch müde beim vierten Spiel in 14 Tagen, doch das allein war es nicht. Es fehlte der Biss! Langsam wird auch das Umfeld ungeduldig. In Padova ist man eigentlich sehr verwöhnt. Nach dem Weggang vieler Stars, finden auch nur noch wenige Zuschauer den Weg in die Halle, zu wenig um die Mannschaft mitzureißen. Umgekehrt reißt natürlich zur Zeit die Leistung der Mannschaft auch keine Zuschauer mit. Mit 4 Punkten stehen sie auf dem letzten Tabellenplatz. In der nächsten Woche muß da sicher einiges besprochen werden...

Klare Niederlage! Copra Piacenza : Giotto Padova 3:0 (25:19 25:21 25:22)

Eine echte Volleyball-Lehrstunde mußten sich Christian und seine Mannschaftskollegen gestern von Piacenza erteilen lassen! Marshall, Cardona&Co ließen dem jungen Team aus Padova in keinem der drei Sätze eine Chance! Dazu kam, dass bei Padova eigentlich jeder einzelne am Ende seiner Kräfte war. "Ich hab schon nach dem Einlaufen gedacht, ich kann nicht mehr und dann auch gespielt, als hätte ich einen Stein am Bein!", meinte Christian nach der schlechtesten Leistung seit langem. Grund für die Erschöpfung der Spieler war wohl die stressige Fahrt nach Rom, das 5-Satz-Spiel am Sonntag und dann das trotzdem sehr harte Training in den letzten Tagen. Seinen Mannschaftkollegen ging es nicht anders und Trainier Berruto mußte auf alle einsatzfähigen Auswechelspieler zurückgreifen. Für die Vorbereitung auf das wichtige Heimspiel am Sonntag, muß Padovas Trainerstab nun unbedingt Konsequenzen aus der verkorksten Leistung von gestern abend ziehen, und die Intensität etwas zurückschrauben.

Erster Auswärtspunkt! Benaquista Latina : Giotto Padova 3:2 (27:25 20:25 13:25 25:21 15:12)

Ein echt Berg- und Talfahrt war das Spiel gestern gegen Latina. Nach einem sehr ausgeglichenen Start, schien Latina Anfang des zweiten Durchgangs in ein Loch gefallen zu sein! Padova machte viel Druck im Aufschlag und Latina die Fehler. Im dritten Satz waren die Gastgeber dann völlig chancenlos und bei Padova konnte man plötzlich sogar auf drei Auswärtspunkte hoffen. Doch das Spiel drehte sich noch einmal. Angriffe und Aufschläge der Gastgegeber, die vorher knapp im Aus gelandet wären, paßte jetzt genau. "Ich weiß nicht, wieviele Bälle Latina in den letzten beiden Sätzen wirklich genau auf die Linie gesetzt haben!!", wundert sich Christian nach dem Spiel, "Das ist unglaublich ärgerlich, wir hätte hier drei Punkte holen können. Ich habe auch zu viele wichtige Bälle vergegeben!" Schon am Mittwoch müssen Christian und seine Mannschaftskollegen erneut auswärts antreten. Dann steht das Nachholspiel gegen Piacenza an.

Finalmente!!! Giotto Padova : Marmi Lanza Verona 3:0 (26:24 25:21 25:22)

Padova hat im Derby gegen Verona die ersten Punkte geholt und zwar gleich drei! Beim deutlichen 3:0 in eigener Halle, lief das Spiel deutlich runder. Auch über die Mitte konnte endlich einmal Druck aufgebaut werden und es gab so gut wie keine Abstimmungsprobleme mehr. Dazu profitierte Padova von der schwachen Leistung der Gäste. Dieser Sieg läßt Padova nicht nur (mit einem Spiel weniger als die anderen Mannschaften) auf den 12. Tabellenplatz springen, sondern ist vor allem wichtig für das Selbstvertrauen der jungen Mannschaft!

Schon am Sonntag steht das nächste Spiel an für Christian und sein Mannschaftskollegen. In Latina wollen sie an die Leistung gegen Verona anknüpfen.

Keine Punkte gegen den Aufsteiger!! Giotto Padova : Codyeco Santa Croce 1:3 (25:20 22:25 22:25 25:27)

Dabei wäre es so wichtig gewesen! Im ersten Satz waren die Gastgeber noch obenauf, doch dann brachen sie deutlich ein! Hervorragende 27 Punkte von Christian (wurde damit punktbester Spieler des gesamten A1-Spieltages) reichten nicht einmal zum ersten Saisonpunkt für Padova. Das schnelle Spiel, das sich Trainer Berruto von seiner Mannschaft wünscht, und das für die junge und auf der Mittelposition eher schwach besetzte Mannschaft wahrscheinlich die einzige Chance wäre, gegen die Weltklassespieler der A1 zu bestehen, funktioniert noch nicht richtig! Immer wieder gab es Abstimmungsprobleme. Mit hängenden Köpfen verließen Christian, Björn & Co das Spielfeld und versuchen morgen am trainingsfreien Tag, den Kopf wieder frei zu bekommen, um nächste Woche die Liga von hinten aufrollen zu können.

Clear defeat!! Itals Diatec Trentino : Giotto Padova 3:0 (26:24 25:21 25:15)

Mit einer Niederlage hatten ja die meisten gerechnet beim Saisonstart gegen Trento, doch ein bissel knapper hätte es werden können! Padova konnte den ersten Satz noch offen gestalten, war immer dran und zeitweise sogar vorn, doch Trento fand das bessere Ende. Durchgang zwei war dann schon deutlicher und im dritten war die Luft raus! Vor allem den starken Mittelblockern beim Gastgeben hatte man nicht viel entgegen zu setzen! Auch Christian erwischte keinen guten Tag. Jetzt hofft man in Padova auf das erste Heimspiel am nächsten Montag! Zu Gast ist dann Nationalmannschaftskapitän Frank Dehne mit Aufsteiger Santa Croce.
