Christian is MVP of the month February!

In the last four matches Christian was elected MVP two times and thus this month could collect more votes than any other A1-player. He will get the award before the match against Macerata next Tuesday.

Padova wins against Top-Teams from all over the world!

Padova wins the Flanders Volley Gala!!

The year 2005 ends very successfull for Padova. They won the tournament with strong teams from all over the world beating the Frensh Champion Cannes in the final match 3:0! Christian played a great tournament! Against Cannes he even scored 23 points in 3 sets, but missed the "Best-Scorer"-Trophy of the tournament by 2 poinst. Björn Andrae got elected "Best-Allround-Player"!

The trophy for the victory is a golden "digger" with a diamond volleyball.

Padova invited to the Flandes Volley Gala 2005!

This morning at 4 am, the team left Italy to play the Flanders Volley Gala in Belgium. Today they will already play two matches:

16:30 Uhr Nesselande (Netherlands) : Padova

20:30 Uhr Kazan (Russia) : Padova

Also this year we will sell by auciton team-shirts of the German national team. The auctions will start next week on the German ebay!

Original shirts of the following players will be sold: Björn Andrae, Till Lieber, Jochen Schöps, Eugen Bakumovski and Christian.

Also this year, the money goes to the Volleyball-Kids in Papua Indonesia. Heide Scheunemann, a German teacher living there, startet a projekt, that, by playing volleyball, brings some fun and joy into the very sad lifes of the children from the poor villages there.

3:2-against Verona in the test-match! Schiavon new Headcoach!

In the first two sets it looked very much like Padova would get another clear defeat. They had huge problems in the reception. But then Padova started to play better. Veronas coach send in Granvorka for Bernardi, but that was not the major reason for the match to change, because also Granvorka played a good match and Bernardi had not made the difference in the first sets. In the End Padova won 3:2, a good sign on their way to the "monday-night-game" on december 5th against Cuneo.

Still searching for a new coach!

Semprevolley Padova is still searching for a new coach. Angelo Lorenzetti was one of the candidates, but the club, the federation and Lorenzett couldn't find an agreement. Still on the list is Roberto Santilli the former headcoach of Benaquista Latina.

Great sign by president Sartorati! Shirt number 16 will be for Arek Golas forever!

Semprevolley Padova will never give the number 16 to a player again! It was the shirt-number of Arek Golas, who died in a car accident last week. Präsident Sartorati flew to Poland yesterday to give the shirt to Arek's parents after the funeral.

Shocking news ! Arek Golas is dead!

The young middle-blocker from Poland, who played here in Padova last year, was on his way to Macerata. In Austria he had an accident. His wife got injured. In Padova everybody is shocked and today, nobody can think about a normal training-day. We are so sorry for his family!

Italy again European Champion!

In a really close match, Italy won agains Russia 3:2!!! Congratualtions!

Second in Suzzara! Giotto Padova : Marmi Lanza Verona 1:3

Zwar verabschieden sich Christian und seine Mannschaftskollegen mit einer Niederlage aus Suzzara, doch einen guten Eindruck hat die junge Mannschaft auf jeden Fall hinerlassen. Nach dem 3:0-Sieg gegen Montichiari gestern, unterlagen sie heute Verona. Ein paar Unstimmigkeiten hatten sich wieder eingeschlichen ins Spiel von Padova und die haben am Ende den Sieg gekostet. Padova hat zunächst den Start etwas verschlafen und so Satz 1 noch relativ deutlich verloren. In Satz 2 war es dann ganz eng, Padova eigentlich besser, doch ein paar strittige Schiedsrichterentscheidungen brachten Verona doch noch den zweiten Satzgewinn. Im dritten Satz hatte dann Padova wieder die Nase vorn, bevor Verona Durchgang vier für sich entscheinden konnte und damit auch das Vorbereitungsturnier gewann.

Padova stated with a clear 3:0 against Montichiari in the four-team-tournament in Suzzara. Tomorrow they will play the final against Verona who won agains Mantova.

Second victory in test match! Giotto Padova : Marmi Lanza Verona 3:2

More postitve signals towards the start of the championship. Padova won against the A1-team from Verona, that had to play without Gato and Granvorka. Padova still had problems in block and reception but there are three weeks left untill the first match against Trento.

5:0 in test match agains Bassano del Grappa.

Giotto Padova clearly won their first test match against a A2 team. Next saturday they will play the first test match against a A1 team, when Verona comes to Padova.

Yesterday, the practices in Padova started!

Christian is back in the land of pasta, pizza and pallavolo. Since yesterday he is practicing with the new team. In Padova he will play with his old friend Björn Andrae, with whom he has been sharing a roon in the national team for allmost 5 years now. He also allready knows the Finnish players Mikko Esko, Simo-Pekka Olli and Matti Hietanen from the European League. Christian and Barbara live in the same house with Mikko and his girlfriend Saara Loikkanen, who playes for Padovas first league women team.
